Recently a film manufacturer closed their doors. I have friends and clients who were satisfied customers of this supplier. I think this is a wake-up call for all of us. During tough times we need to ‘inspect what we expect.’ If you are relying on the warranty of a product that is critical to your business success, it’s probably a good idea to confirm on a regular basis the financial strength of that supplier. The products you use in your business are a key factor in the success of your business. Most products come with warranties or guarantees and these can be understood as ‘promises’ to you the buyer. What happens when the manufacturer of that product goes under/closes the doors? Where does that ultimately affect YOU and what type of exposure does that leave YOU?

Our industry is a niche and I personally am aware that several of the smaller players are highly leveraged (they owe a lot of money) which leaves YOU with exposure risk for reliable product and warranties over time. If these companies do not survive and go under like the one that did last month, where does that leave YOU? What is your exposure? This leaves all of their clients helpless and with all the liability of standing behind a product they never even manufactured! Where will you get replacement product for a warrantable issue if this happens to you? If your supplier doesn’t survive, YOU will have exposure to pay for this out of YOUR own pocket. This is why it is critical that you assess the financial strength of any supplier that is key to your business success. Plan to survive. With the challenges in our national economy, your risk is greater. Make sure you understand what that risk is.

I think the odds are much in favor of this company surviving the downturn in the economy. Just how tough is PRO-TECT Film?

Remember Mr. Vic’s Corvette in the Silver State Classic? Well these pictures are his car! He had an accident and smacked the front end of his car as you can see from the pictures. Not only was he impressed with how well the film protected against rocks and bugs, but to his amazement, not even a wall/guard rail could get through the film and to the paint!

A well-deserved congratulations to our sponsor Jay Cutler for winning Mr. Olympia 2007 just last weekend! This is his second consecutive Mr. Olympia title. Clips from the competition:

The Silver State Classic Challenge was just held this weekend (September 13-16, 2007) and here’s what happened with our film on Mr. Vic’s Supercharged Corvette:

Mr. Vic tech’d out at 172 mph and maintained an average speed of 140 mph for 90 miles. Altitude variations of 6700ft to 4500ft during the race resulted in various road debris attacking the front of his car. Mr. Vic said,

“When the race was over, I could barely see out of the front of my windshield because it was covered with so many bugs along with the front of my car, it looked destroyed. When I got home I took a warm sponge and everything washed off the front of the car and there was absolutely no damage to the painted surface at all. Once again I am impressed at how well the PRO-TECT Film product holds up under these harsh conditions which no average car will ever see.”

A total of 138 vehicles competed in the Silver State Classic this year and Mr. Vic took 5th place in his class. Congratulations to Mr. Vic and we are glad he finished the race safely!

This is Mr. Vic’s Supercharged Corvette with over 650 HP at the rear wheels and will be competing in the Silver State Classic Race. It’s “tech’d” at 165 mph but will maintain a constant speed of 135 mph with our product on his car! Mr. Vic has the Full Hood/Full Fender, Bumper, and Headlights pro-tected on his vehicle and this will be his 3rd race with the film in a years time. Mr. Vic said, “I am impressed with how well the PRO-TECT product holds up at these speeds and not one chip on the front of my vehicle!” We wish Mr. Vic the best of luck and will post his race results next week.

The Silver State Classic is a popular race and Mr. Vic says there have been 2 cars flown in from out of the country to compete in this race.
